Nearby Scott’s Flat Lake is known as an excellent fishery for large and small-mouth bass as well as brown and rainbow trout. Gold panning on streams that were part of the “Gold Rush” is available locally as well as site of historical significance, like North Bloomfield and Empire Mine State Parks. Harmony Ridge has detailed maps at the resort and the friendly and knowledgeable staff will be happy to share their local knowledge with you. Closest ski resorts include Boreal Ridge, Sugar Bowl, Northstar and Squaw Valley (about an hour or so away depending upon road conditions). Several nearby lakes and streams. Historic downtown Nevada City and Grass Valley just ten minutes away. Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park is the site of California’s largest ""hydraulic"" mine. Empire Mine State Park, Nevada County Fairgrounds, home to lots of local events, Lake Tahoe for a scenic drive.
